Account Opening Guide

What you need, what happens at each step, and what to expect before you can place your first order.

Account types

These are the account types that exist in Pakistan's capital market. Which of them Almeer Securities currently offers depends on the firm's applicable permissions, so confirm availability with our team before you begin rather than assuming every type below is open to you.

Individual account
An account in one person's own name. The most common arrangement for a retail investor.
Joint account
An account held by two or more people together, with operating instructions agreed at opening.
Corporate account
An account for a company or other entity. Requires constitutional documents, board authorisation and identification of authorised persons and beneficial owners.
Sahulat account
A simplified account introduced by the Pakistan Stock Exchange to make entry easier for small investors, with reduced documentation.
Roshan Equity Investment account
For non-resident Pakistanis investing through the Roshan Digital Account framework.

Documents you will need

Requirements vary by account type and applicant profile. The list below is the general case; our team will tell you exactly what applies to yours.

  • Valid CNIC or NICOP — Must be current. An expired identity document will stop the application.
  • Proof of bank account or IBAN — Payouts are made to an account in your own name.
  • Contact information — Mobile number and email address — these receive your trade and settlement alerts, so they must be yours and must be current.
  • Source-of-income information — Required under KYC and anti-money-laundering rules. Every regulated broker must ask.
  • Proof of address — Where required, depending on the account type and your circumstances.
  • Corporate documents — Where applicable — constitutional documents, board or partner authorisation, and identification of authorised persons and beneficial owners.
  • Other KYC or regulatory documents — Additional documents may be requested depending on your profile and the applicable requirements.

The steps

We do not publish a fixed approval or activation time. How long an account takes depends on how quickly complete and accurate documents are provided and on the applicable verification requirements, and publishing a figure would be a commitment we could not make for every case.
