Investor Rights & Responsibilities
What you are entitled to expect from a broker, what remains your own responsibility, and the few habits that prevent most problems.
Your rights
Subject to applicable regulations and your account terms, you are entitled to the following.
- Clear account documentation
- A copy of what you signed, and terms written so they can be read.
- Trade confirmations
- Confirmation of each executed trade, so you can check it against what you instructed.
- Visibility of applicable charges
- The right to know what you are being charged and on what basis.
- Account statements
- A record of activity in your account.
- CDC and NCCPL alerts
- Notifications sent to you directly by the depository and the clearing company: an independent record of movements in your account.
- Confidentiality
- Your information is handled with appropriate care and operational controls.
- The ability to complain
- A route to raise a concern and have it looked into.
- Information about escalation
- If we cannot resolve a matter, you are entitled to know where else you can take it.
Your responsibilities
These are yours, and they matter; several of them are the difference between a problem caught early and a problem that cannot be fixed.
- Give accurate information
- An account opened on inaccurate information causes problems later, and can breach regulatory requirements.
- Keep your KYC details current
- Tell us when your identity documents, address, bank account or contact details change.
- Protect your credentials
- Never share a password, PIN or verification code with anyone, including someone claiming to be from Almeer Securities. We will never ask you for them.
- Review your trades and statements
- Check confirmations against what you instructed, promptly.
- Monitor CDC and NCCPL alerts
- These come to you independently of us. Reading them is one of the strongest protections you have.
- Maintain funds or securities for settlement
- A trade has to settle. Ensure the money or the shares are there.
- Report discrepancies without delay
- Anything is easier to investigate while the records are recent.
- Understand the risk
- Investment in securities can lose money. That risk is real and it is yours.
- Make your own decisions
- Almeer Securities executes your instructions. The investment decision is yours.
What no right covers
None of the rights above protects you against a market loss. Segregation of client funds protects against the misuse of client assets by a broker. It does not, and cannot, protect against prices falling.
No institution in Pakistan's capital market, not Almeer Securities, not the PSX, not the SECP, not CDC and not NCCPL, guarantees an investor against a loss caused by the market.
