Regular trading sessions

All times are Pakistan Standard Time (PKT, UTC+5).

Pre-open and post-close

The exchange operates order-entry periods around the regular session. Orders can be entered before the market opens, but they do not execute until the session begins — so an order placed overnight is not an executed trade.

Revised and special timings

The exchange changes its schedule from time to time — most commonly during Ramadan, and occasionally for operational or national reasons. Revised timings are announced as exchange notices before they take effect.

Because these change, the session indicator in the top bar of this site is calculated from the schedule above rather than from a stored value. On a day with revised timings, or on a market holiday, treat the exchange's own notice as authoritative.

Holidays and unexpected closures

Market holidays follow the announced schedule for the year, and the exchange can also suspend trading in a particular security or halt the market entirely. Both are published as exchange notices.

What this means for your orders

• An order can only execute while the market is in session.
• Settlement runs on the market's own cycle, so a trade executed near the end of a week settles later than one executed early in it.
• A trading suspension in a security means you cannot buy or sell it until the exchange lifts the suspension.
